How FormatTailor works.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Every FormatTailor tool decodes and processes your file inside the current browser tab. Nothing is sent to a FormatTailor server, and closing the tab clears the working session.

Do I need an account?

No account, no sign-up, no email. Open a tool, drop a file, and download the result.

Which formats can be read?

JPEG, PNG, and WebP decode in every modern browser. HEIC and HEIF photos are decoded through an included local decoder; unusual variants can fail, and they fail locally instead of uploading anywhere.

What happens to photo metadata?

The metadata inspector shows what the browser can read — including GPS coordinates when present. Exports create a fresh file from decoded pixels, so no EXIF block is copied into your download.

How large can files be?

Up to 40 MB per file for most tools. Browser memory is the real limit, so very large images on older devices may need smaller sources.

Is it really free?

Yes. The tools are free to use, supported by ads, with no premium tier gating features.

Privacy is part of the architecture

The image does not need a round trip.

For supported operations, FormatTailor uses browser APIs and locally loaded processing code. Your source and generated image are not sent to a FormatTailor file-processing server.
