Fit, fill, or stretch

Dimensions with an explicit trade-off.

Changing width and height can preserve the whole source, crop its edges, or distort it. The right choice depends on where the result will be used, so the tool keeps that choice visible.

FitKeep the whole image inside the requested box, with space where aspect ratios differ.
FillCover the requested frame while cropping pixels that fall outside it.
Exact dimensionsProduce the requested width and height for layouts with a fixed slot.
Background choiceChoose what fills unused space when the source and destination shapes differ.

Quality note: Enlarging a small image adds pixels but cannot recreate missing detail. For the clearest result, start with a source at least as large as the destination.

Common questions

Choose the right frame.

What is the difference between fit and fill?

Fit keeps the entire source visible inside the destination. Fill covers the whole destination and crops the parts that extend beyond its edges.

Will resizing make the file smaller?

Usually, reducing pixel dimensions reduces the amount of image data, but output format and quality also affect file size. Use the compressor when a strict KB or MB limit matters.

Can I resize a transparent PNG?

Supported PNG transparency can be retained when PNG is selected as the output. Converting to JPEG requires a solid background because JPEG has no alpha channel.
