WebP to JPG converter

Make a compatible JPG from a WebP image.

Use JPG when a form, editor, or older workflow does not accept WebP. Conversion runs in this tab, keeps the decoded dimensions, and makes the transparency trade-off explicit.

Format decision

What should you check before choosing JPG?

JPEG remains common in upload forms and desktop workflows, but it cannot store transparency and uses lossy compression. Convert for a real compatibility need, not because JPG is automatically better.

Explicit transparency matteTransparent WebP pixels must become a solid colour in JPEG. Choose a matte that matches the page, document, or marketplace background.
Controllable JPEG qualityIncrease quality for detailed photos and inspect gradients or text carefully. Lower settings trade visible detail for a smaller result.
No automatic resizingThe export retains the decoded width and height. A separate resize avoids mixing a format decision with a crop decision.
Local, clean exportThe browser canvas produces a new image and does not copy the original metadata block into the JPG.

Keep in mind: Do not convert an image that needs transparency unless a solid background is acceptable. Keep the original WebP as the source asset because converting back to JPG cannot restore discarded alpha data or encoding detail.

Three local steps

Convert, inspect, then keep.

The page constrains the source format and starts with the intended output, while leaving the quality decision visible.

STEP / 01

Choose one WebP

Select a .webp file up to 40 MB. Other input formats are rejected on this focused converter.

STEP / 02

Pick quality and background

Set JPEG quality and choose the matte colour that will replace transparent pixels.

STEP / 03

Check the flattened result

Inspect edges, dimensions, and file size before downloading the generated .jpg.

Common questions

WebP to JPG, clearly explained.

Why did the transparent area turn white?

JPEG has no alpha channel. White is the default matte; choose another background colour before converting if the image will sit on a different surface.

Will JPG be smaller than WebP?

Not necessarily. WebP is often efficient, so the compatible JPG can be larger at comparable visible quality. Convert when the destination requires JPEG and use the reported size to decide.

Is the original WebP changed?

No. FormatTailor creates a new JPG download. The source WebP remains untouched on your device.
