Format decision
What changes when HEIC becomes JPG?
HEIC is an efficient container used by many phones, while JPEG is easier to open in older apps, upload forms, and publishing workflows. Converting changes the encoding; it does not add detail that was absent from the photo.
Keep in mind: HEIC files can contain image sequences, depth information, or variants that a browser decoder cannot reproduce. FormatTailor exports one decoded image; unsupported files fail locally instead of being uploaded elsewhere.
Three local steps
Convert, inspect, then keep.
The page constrains the source format and starts with the intended output, while leaving the quality decision visible.
Choose one HEIC file
Select a .heic or .heif photo up to 40 MB. The page rejects other source formats so the result matches this workflow.
Set quality and matte
Choose the JPEG quality and the colour used if the decoded image contains transparent pixels.
Inspect and download
Compare the preview, dimensions, and output size before saving the generated .jpg file.
Common questions
HEIC or HEIF to JPG, clearly explained.
Does this work with iPhone HEIC photos?
It works with HEIC or HEIF files the browser or the included local decoder can read. HEIC variants differ, so a damaged, unusually large, or unsupported file may fail.
Will the JPG look exactly like the HEIC?
The decoded composition should remain recognizable, but JPEG is a lossy format and HEIC-specific data such as depth maps or image sequences is not carried into a single JPG.
Is my HEIC photo uploaded?
No file-processing upload is used. The selected file is decoded and converted by code running in the current browser tab.
